Voncille Strong, affectionately known as Vonnie, was born on July 31, 1952, and passed away on January 7, 2023. As the matriarch of our family, she is survived by four daughters - Tonia Strong, Trish Mitchell, Barbara Strong, and Tamika Jenkins - and one son, Anthony Jackson. Additionally, she is remembered by her siblings, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends who cherished her. Voncille had a fondness for the color purple and had a special love for children. In her honor, we have established the Purple Gift Foundation with the goal of bringing joy to children facing medical, physical, and socio-economic challenges. The foundation will distribute purple teddy bears monthly to children's hospitals, clinics, community centers, shelters, and organizations dedicated to the well-being of young children. Voncille epitomized love, generosity, and compassion, and through this foundation, we aim to continue her legacy of spreading love and kindness.
Often referred to as "Vonnie," she was a remarkable woman whose greatest joy was loving her friends and family. She had a knack for making everyone feel welcome. Her gentle smile and compassionate nature left a lasting impact on all she encountered. Despite facing various health challenges, she persevered with unwavering determination. Though she fought bravely, she was eventually called home by God. Her memory will forever remain cherished. Every child who smiles upon receiving a purple teddy bear will help her legacy endure.
